Banners, flowers and flags can be seen everywhere, especially on main streets in Hanoi, to welcome the upcoming 13th National Party Congress. The whole city looks fresh and vibrant as if it has just worn a new coat.

The capital Hanoi has been decked out in flags, banners, and panels in celebration of the upcoming Congress. Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung said that as of January 19, decorations for the event had been basically completed in districts, communes, and townships, including along major streets and the headquarters of centrally-run and Hanoi agencies. Agencies, units, hospitals, schools and households were asked to fly the national flag from January 15 to February 14. Flowers and plants were also arranged in major areas. Before, during, and after the Congress, Hanoi has been deploying thousands of officers and soldiers from the Hanoi Public Security and the municipal High Command to ensure security and safety. The municipal Health Department is spraying disinfectant inside and outside the My Dinh National Stadium and outlining COVID-19 prevention and control plans at different levels. Trucks carrying heavy loads and passenger coaches will be prohibited from traveling through a number of roads in the capital city during the 13th National Party Congress. In a bid to ease traffic flow for the important political event, lorries carrying 500kg and more and coaches with 24 passengers or above will be banned from running on certain streets. Party chief sends message to leader of Mexican Labour Party

Vietnam needs stronger efforts to achieve SDGs: Workshop

A workshop was held on October 21 to publish the national report on the progress of the five-year implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), during which experts pointed out that Vietnam should strive harder to achieve the goals by 2030.

Vietnam targets 6-6.5 GDP growth in 2022

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has presented to the National Assembly a draft socio-economic development plan for 2022 which aims for a GDP growth of at about 6-6.5 percent in 2022.
