Preparations for the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi were completed on January 21, just four days before the opening of the event. The Congress will take place in Hanoi from January 25 to February 2. With the motto “Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Creativeness - Development”, it is a political event to map out future orientations, thus helping to boost the country’s renewal, integration and development cause comprehensively and synchronously. Streets of Hanoi have been embellished with national and Party flags, banners, and posters to welcome the event. In Vietnam, during important events of the nation or the Party, people often hang the national and Party flags to celebrate them. At the same time, preparations for the Congress at the National Convention Centre have been completed. The decorations for the upcoming 13th National Party Congress at the National Convention Centre have been completed. The Congress, scheduled to take place from January 25 to February 2, has the theme “Strengthening the building and rectification of the Party and the political system into purity and strength; rousing the will and determination for national development and promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc in combination with the power of the era; continuing to comprehensively and synchronously accelerate the cause of reform; constructing and firmly safeguarding the Fatherland and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment; and striving to turn Vietnam into a developed, socialist-oriented nation by the middle of the 21st century.” (Photo: VietnamPlus)

All roads leading to the National Convention Centre have been adorned with a large number of red banners which are similar to the national and Party flags. Many of national and Party flags, together with banners and posters have livened up the streets of Hanoi. With the motto “Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Creativeness - Development”, the 13th National Party Congress will review not only the implementation of the Resolution of the 12th Congress but also 35 years of implementing the “Doi Moi” (Renewal) process, 30 years of implementing the 1991 Political Platform, 10 years of implementing the amended Political Platform (supplemented and developed in 2011) and the National Socio-economic Development Strategy 2011-2020; setting out socio-economic development orientations and tasks for 2021-2025 (the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification); and determining goals and orientations to 2030 (the 100th founding anniversary of the Party) and a vision for national development to 2045 (the 100th founding anniversary of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) (Photo: VietnamPlus)

Up to 1,587 delegates representing more than 5.1 million Party members nationwide will attend the 13th National Party Congress, up nearly 80 delegates from the 12th Congress and the largest number among the 13 congresses. The event is scheduled to take place in the capital city from January 25 to February 2. Among the delegates, 13.99 percent are women, and 11.03 percent are ethnic minorities. The 13th National Party Congress will take place in Hanoi from January 25 to February 2, with the participation of up to 1,587 delegates representing more than 5.1 million Party members nationwide. Many more flowers and ornamental trees will be seen at public spaces around the National Convention Centre, as well as along main streets leading to the centre, Ba Dinh district, and the city centre. Parks, gardens, and gateways to the capital will also get a facelift. The Hanoi Urban Environment Company (URENCO) will conduct a city-wide clean-up from January 16 to 23 and on January 30, Director Nguyen Huu Tien said. It also plans to install 100 portable toilets with improved signage at public recreational areas, which will also be cleaned regularly.
