PM proposes establishment of regional social security network

Also in the framework of the 38th and 39th ASEAN summits and related summits, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the ASEAN+3 summit, which includes ASEAN, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

At the meeting, the 24th of its kind, leaders of ASEAN and its partners agreed to give priority for their cooperation in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and stimulating post-pandemic recovery towards sustainable development.

The leaders also held that regional countries should consider the removal of travel restrictions, and soon ratify and implement the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.

China, Japan and the Republic of Korea reaffirmed their support for ASEAN’s initiatives on Covid-19 prevention and vowed to continue assisting ASEAN countries in fighting the pandemic.

Addressing the event, PM Chinh stressed that in order to gain sustainable socio-economic recovery, ASEAN plus three countries should cooperate with each other to stabilize macro economics and finance, and support people and business community, among others.

The Vietnamese government leader proposed the setup of a regional social security network, aiming to enhance social security and welfare for regional peoples./.
