Hanoi (VNA) – A Vietnamese delegation led by Politburo member and
permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s
Secretariat Vo Van Thuong attended the international inter-party videoconference hosted by the ruling United Russia Party (URP) on December 1,
on the occasion of its 20th founding anniversary.
Themed “Global Challenges of the XXI century:
Interparty Dimension”, the event draw over 30 delegations from political
parties worldwide, including heads of State, leaders of governments and
parties.
Speaking at the event, Thuong affirmed that
peace, cooperation and development remain a major trend of the world. Despite
difficulties, globalisation, world economic connectivity together with the
fourth Industrial Revolution will create a driving force for development.
He suggested parties give priority to raising
common awareness of strengthening peace and security, promote effective
response to non-traditional security challenges, and develop ties among
themselves on common issues.
Mentioning Vietnam’s development orientations,
external policy and important achievements, he stressed that Party diplomacy is
one of the pillars of Vietnam’s foreign policy. He also affirmed appreciation
for Vietnam – Russia comprehensive strategic partnership and ties between the CPV
and the URP.
In his speech, URP President Dmitry Medvedev emphasised
that Russia is ready for cooperation to strengthen ASEAN’s existing mechanisms
and calls on countries globally to share experience in coping with global
challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the occasion, head of the CPV Central Committee’s
Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung and Deputy Secretary of the URP’s General Council Andrey Klimov signed a bilateral cooperation agreement for the 2022-2024
period in order to deepen comprehensive cooperative ties between the two Parties and
countries./.
