Hanoi (VNA) – The Government has renewed its mindset and working methods, implementing a series of major policies and initiatives with boldness and determination to bring benefits to the people, Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Government Party Committee, and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh has said.

Speaking at a press conference on October 9 announcing preparations for the 1st Congress of the Government’s Party Organisation for the 2025-30 tenure, Binh stated that under the Party’s leadership, the Government has renewed its approaches across areas, including legislation, private sector development, science and technology application, digital transformation, state management, foreign investment attraction, education, and healthcare.

Regarding the renewal of working methods, the official said the Government has issued focused and prioritised directives.

At the beginning of this term, localities proposed 12,000 projects, but the Government decided to implement only 5,000. By focusing on these 5,000 projects, all were completed, he elaborated.

For the next term’s action plan, the Government will concentrate on just 3,000 projects, maintaining clear priorities and a highly determined approach.

In addition, there has been strong decentralisation and delegation of authority, accompanied by the allocation of resources so that localities can act, make decisions, and take responsibility, he noted, adding that assigning tasks and resources to localities in this way helps promote accountability, initiative, and creativity at the local level.

Alongside flexible adaptation and turning challenges into opportunities amid tariffs, pandemics, and other disruptions, the Government has implemented flexible and reality-based policies with timely and appropriate measures, Binh said.

At the same time, the Government dares to confront difficulties directly rather than avoid them, resolving long-standing issues, he went on, citing the Viet Duc and Bach Mai hospitals projects in Ha Nam (now Ninh Binh province) as examples.

He stated that thanks to these innovative approaches, Vietnam has achieved notable accomplishments, including stable macroeconomic growth; successfully completing the restructure of administrative apparatus to establish a streamlined, effective, and citizen-focused two-tier local administration model; completing institutional frameworks that provide a critical legal foundation for future growth; restructuring the economy to adapt to new circumstances.

The Deputy PM spotlighted achievements in fostering a vibrant and nationally distinctive culture; notable progress in healthcare and education; ensuring national defence and security; international integration; combating the COVID-19 pandemic, and completing the nationwide programme to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing.

He also mentioned the Government’s policies for overseas Vietnamese as a highlight in the past tenure, stating that those demonstrate care and responsibility toward the Vietnamese community abroad./.
