Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) on June 18 held a seminar on people-to-people diplomacy in the new context in both in-person and virtual forms.

The event aimed to define the role, requirements and tasks of people-to-people diplomacy in the new period, as well as review and assess obtained results in the implementation of a directive by the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on improving the efficiency of the sector.

It was also to give recommendations to the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on the work in the coming time.

Participants discussed orientations of people-to-people diplomacy in the near future, along with the coordination between people’s and State’s diplomacy in the new situation.

They also exchanged views on measures to enhance effectiveness of parliamentary and people-to-people diplomacy, experiences in the implementation of the directive, and recommendations to bolster efficiency of the people’s diplomacy.

Some delegates put forth ways to enhance the coordination of three pillars of diplomacy, including the Party’s diplomacy, the State’s diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy; and requirements regarding the Party and State's leadership of people's diplomacy in terms of mechanisms and policies./.
