Lam Dong (VNA) - Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam, Secretary of the Lam Dong provincial Party Committee for the 2020–2025 tenure, was assigned by the Political Bureau to continue holding the position for the 2025–2030 tenure.
According to the Politburo's Decision No. 2360-QDNS/TW dated September 15, 2025, announced at the first provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term which opened on October 10, the provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term consists of 94 members, while its Standing Board includes 24 members.
The two-day congress sees the presence of 498 deputies representing nearly 124,000 Party members across the province.
In his opening speech, Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam affirmed that this is a milestone of great political significance for the Party Organisation and people of the newly-formed Lam Dong province, following the mergence of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, and Dak Nong provinces. It marks the beginning of a new stage with vast development opportunities, allowing Lam Dong to stride forward with the nation into an era of growth, prosperity, and civilisation.
For the 2025-2030 term, the provincial Party Organisation aims for an average GRDP growth rate of approximately 10-10.5%, with the average GRDP per capita reaching around 6,700 - 7,500 USD by 2030. The labour productivity growth rate is expected to reach about 6.5 - 7.5% per year, while total social investment is targeted to account for 35-40% of GRDP. In terms of social development, the Human Development Index (HDI) is hoped to reach around 0.75, with the goal of basically eliminating poverty by 2030.
Regarding Party building, the rate of new Party member admission is targeted to reach 3-4% of the total number of Party members each year during the 2025-2030 period.
Speaking at the event, Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh affirmed that the mergence of the three provinces is a historic decision by the Party Central Committee, opening up vast, unprecedented development opportunities for Lam Dong, combining the strength of the fertile highlands and the dynamic coastal region.
Lam Dong is rich in potential, with outstanding advantages in tourism, renewable energy, and the mining and processing of bauxite, titanium, and other minerals. However, to turn this potential into economic growth and improve living standards for the people, Lam Dong must not continue thinking in the old ways. The new opportunities require a new vision, renewed political determination, and breakthrough actions, Binh said, adding that this is the measure of the leadership mettle and capability of the Lam Dong provincial Party Committee.
Binh also suggested several issues for the congress to discuss and address. Among these, the top priority must be the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system to ensure they are clean, strong, and comprehensive. This must be seen as the key of all key tasks, with a particular focus on building a contingent of officials capable of meeting the challenges of the mission.
Lam Dong needs to make breakthroughs in administrative reform; improve the investment and business environment; and focus on building and strengthening the people's national defence posture, closely linked with the people's security posture, maintaining public security and order, and firmly protecting the national border sovereignty within the province, he added./.
